Christmas is right around the corner, let's see what fun we can get up to:

Can you follow a plan? Let's see. Let's create a Kirigami snowflake project and/or a Christmas Tree origami project.

1. Kirigami  Snowflake Instructions

1.Fold a piece of paper in half.

2.Fold in half again but only make a small crease to show the midpoint. Fold the bottom right corner upwards to make a 60° angle at the midpoint (begin to fold into thirds).

3.Fold the bottom left corner upwards to meet with the folded right-edge of the paper.

4.Trim the excess paper to form a cone shape.

5.Make several cuts out of the cone shape and then unfold to discover your paper snowflake. Be careful not to cut too much - that will cause the entire snowflake to fall apart.

Note that cutting half-a-heart will open to reveal a heart cutout. Similarly, cutting a semicircle will reveal a circle; and cutting a triangle will produced a diamond shape.

2.Christmas Tree Origami

3. Send an e-card:  http://www.care2.com/ecards/

Norad Tracks Santa - this is a really nice site with lots of activities for kids: http://www.noradsanta.org ,

The Fun Christmas Site For Kids - lots of possibilities including recipes, crossword puzzles, Christmas hangman, word scrambles and more . . . http://www.topshelfmarketing.com/christmas/ ,

Christmas Printable Worksheets - more anagrams, crosswords, cryptograms, sudoku, http://www.dltk-holidays.com/xmas/worksheets.htm

I think this will keep you busy for a while.

Happy holidays one and all.  See you in 2013!!!!

Feedback - Gathering feedback is an important part of evaluating any project.

Today we are going to gather feedback on our Design Cycle door hanger.

1. Show your Design Cycle door hanger to 5 classmates and ask them to answer the questions you made in the Investigate step.
2. Then write about what your classmates said about your door hanger. (Did it meet your design specifications? Why or why not?) Also say how you could improve your cartoon.
3..  Evaluate your own performance in the Investigate, Design, Plan, Create stages of the Design Cycle.
4. Draw a picture to say if you have completed your unit goal.

IB Learner Profile: Reflective

Learning objective:  The student will: carry out tests to compare the product/solution against the design specification; consider the success of the product/solution based on testing; consider the impact of the product/solution on the OIS community; explain how the product/solution could be improved.
